If there was one thing I noticed about the Times-Picayune website, it is that they love sports. Especially high school sports. The media outlet dedicated its own section to the topic. Its link is found right next to the general sports section on the website.
I have not seen a lot of newspapers dedicate their own section solely to high school sports online. My local paper, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, does not.

The Times-Picayune provides extensive coverage of their local high school teams. The media outlet has links to areas including news, photos, videos, scores and schedules, players, recruiting, tournaments, and forums. Essentially, they provide all the same coverage for local teams as they do for collegiate and professional ones.
I was very impressed with the amount of multimedia used in the section. Pictures are prevalent throughout the high school sports homepage. The journalists also incorporate them very well into stories and galleries that represent a particular team, game or event. I also noticed that some of the videos were not just highlights. The journalists created a feature story on a particular athlete using this form of multimedia.
A section dedicated to high school sports was something that I was not expecting from the Times-Picayune. They did an excellent job of making this section more in-depth and covered each sub-section within it extensively. The media outlet does enough with the page that it is obvious why it has its own section right next to news, sports, business and entertainment.
